El artículo “El valor del trabajo” coincide con la fábula porque ésta dice que la verdadera fuerza se obtiene a través del trabajo, mientras que el artículo de Jesús Castillo More se apoya en Marx y Adam Smith para afirmar que el trabajo es la única fuente de valor. También el artículo reconoce que el valor del trabajo está sujeto a elementos como oferta y demanda, que dependen del mercado, de la producción y de otros factores. En la fábula, la abeja aprende sobre la escasez, al encarar condiciones diferentes de vida, lo cual es una metáfora sobre lo difícil que es la vida sin un modelo económico balanceado por medios de producción, trabajo, y ganancias. En la fábula, la abeja debe aprender a no valorar la fuerza bruta ni los abusos, pues el sistema económico es un delicado balance que mantiene el bienestar de la comunidad entera, para proteger a todos.
En mi opinión personal, vale la pena ser trabajador por que se aprenden muchas lecciones sobre cómo mantener la armonía entre los habitantes de una comunidad. Entiendo el punto de vista de Horacio de Quiroga al enseñarnos que el trabajo nos hace más inteligentes como personas, y nos hace agregar valor a los que nos rodean. Es interesante aplicar las teorías que resume Castillo More, pues forman un sustento teórico de cómo la economía como disciplina apoya la moraleja de Quiroga.
