Onetti nos ubica en una zona rural de Santa María (puede ser Santa María de los Buenos Aires), como solía llamarse la ciudad en sus inicios. A donde llegaban barcos con inmigrantes extranjeros, en busca del futuro prometedor y ser dueños de los grandes campos argentinos.
Es así que el personaje principal es Don Jeremías Petrus, inmigrante europeo que llegó con su esposa e hijo y se convirtió en dueño de grandes campos, sembríos y animales. Se lo describe como un hombre de pocas palabras, despiadado, acostumbrado a obtener lo que desea con dinero. Tiene un mozo, un capataz, peones, un comisario comprado (Medina) y una prostituta a la cual visita todos los viernes, alegando que viaja a la ciudad de Buenos Aires. Pero su lado más despiadado se refleja en la crianza de cuatro perros doberman, adiestrados para matar o según Petrus para cuidar sus tierras. El relato inicia con una escena escalofriante, en la que Don Jeremías le esta dando de comer a los perros carne humana y da indicaciones a su capaz para que se deshaga de la ropa y pertenencias del difunto.
El relato gira en torno a este crimen, ya que Don Jeremías recibe la visita del comisario de Santa María, buscando a una persona a la que los peones señalaron como ladrón de gallinas. Pero gracias a la investigación de Medina, da a entender que tiene alguna relación con la esposa de Petrus. Lo cual podría ser la verdadera motivación del crimen. Pero acostumbrado a comprar todo con dinero, el comisario no escapa a esta realidad y decide aceptar la falsa acusación a cambio de su hipoteca. Pero él no sabe el final que le espera, ya que uno de los perros doberman, sólo está esperando la orden de su amo a la sombra de un árbol.
España país plurilingüe
En julio de 2010, el Senado español aprobó el uso de las lenguas cooficiales: catalán, gallego y euskera, además del castellano, a partir del primero de enero 2011. Este histórico hecho se produjo tras un intenso debate para que el pleno de la Cámara Alta lo aprobara por 134 votos a favor, 115 en contra y ninguna abstención.
Esta decisión final se produce luego de muchos obstáculos presentados por un uno de los más fervientes opositores, el Partido Popular (PP). Es sabido que a través de diversos medios de comunicación expresaron su descuerdo basándose en que España “no es un estado plurilingüe”, ya que sólo algunas comunidades son bilingües y el senado representa a la totalidad del pueblo español. Tomando la idea como descabellada e inaudita.
Por el contrario, el Partido Socialista (PSOE) ha manifestado su aprobación a través de la secretaria de su Organización Leire Pajín, indicado a sus opositores que tomen este hecho con “naturalidad” ya que es un paso “histórico” en el país, según nota de Juanma Romero del 29 de abril de 2010 de Público.es. Van-Halen aunó sus fuerzas con el PSOE declarando a los medios que España “sí es un país plurilingüe” ya que es un país donde además del castellano se hablan otras lenguas derivadas de esta, por lo tanto el pueblo debe verse representado en el senado y no ser excluido por su lengua.
Varios analistas, como por ejemplo Juan Carlos Rodríguez investigador de la consultora española Analistas Socio-Politicos, argumentan que esta situación es el símbolo de un país que no tiene claras las prioridades y no sabe cómo resolver su integración.
Si bien es un debate que no parece tener fin, muchos piensan en el presupuesto que se debe considerar para traductores y equipos a utilizar durante cada sesión del senado y durante cada intervención. Según medios españoles, el costo del servicio de traducción será el equivalente a unos US$473.000 anuales, razón más que suficiente para algunos para cuestionar tal decisión en tiempos de crisis. Un amor inalcanzable
En el presente ensayo los introduciré en el mundo mágico del romanticismo de la Edad Media, a través de la leyenda Los ojos verdes del libro escrito en 1861 por Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer.
A lo largo de sus obras Bécquer refleja muchas de las características de su época en donde se vive un sentimiento de no plenitud, por lo que algunos románticos buscan su ideal de vida en el pasado recreando épocas como la Edad Media. Esta situación provoca un conflicto entre el individuo y la sociedad, en la que se resalta el individualismo y un subjetivismo muy marcado, que se puede observar en las obras literarias en la manera que el personaje principal busca de su ser, su “yo” o la parte que lo complete. Esta intensa búsqueda lo hace pasar por encima de las normas de comportamiento de la sociedad en la que vive, enfrentando cualquier impedimento en ansias de su libertad para lograr su objetivo. Es así que los personajes vagan por una naturaleza que refleja los estados de ánimo del escritor y el personaje. En oposición a esta búsqueda de ideales, se presentan antihéroes que se oponen a esta libertad y hacen entrar en razón al personaje principal haciendo hincapié en la historia y las tradiciones de su pueblo impidiendo realizar sus deseos y alcanzar los impulsos del corazón.
Es en este marco que nos llega Los ojos verdes, leyenda que cuenta la historia de Fernando de Argensola, primogénito de los marqueses de Almenar, saliendo un día de caza por sus tierras hiere a un ciervo; lo persigue, sin que su montero Iñigo pueda seguirlo, y llega hasta la fuente de los Álamos. Desde ese día cabizbajo y enfermo dice haber visto los ojos verdes de una mujer. Cada día retorna al lugar para ver a la mujer de los ojos verdes. Un día Íñigo, el montero mayor de los marqueses de Almenar, le pregunta acerca de estas salidas diarias al lago y le contesta que se había enamorado de la preciosa mujer de ojos verdes de la fuente. Íñigo trata de explicarle que ella no le conviene. Pero una noche Fernando regresa al lugar y ve a una bellísima dama entre las rocas que le llama.
La obra presenta innumerables simbolismos que reflejan las características literarias de la época. Las cuales pasaremos a enumerar para comprender el tema central del análisis.
La naturaleza: La cacería se inicia por las tierras del personaje, atraído por la belleza del lugar. Y culmina con su ida al lago en medio de la noche y la oscuridad, donde se nos anticipa en cierto modo el final, ya que a este paisaje se le atribuye la angustia y la obsesión por la muerte del personaje.
El ciervo: Es la imagen animal de la diosa Artemisa (Diana) y es el animal del dios celta Cernunnos, ambos señores de los bosques y por ello de los misterios escondidos. El ciervo significa la búsqueda del conocimiento. Y la cacería nos demuestra esta búsqueda del personaje, si bien lo hiere, no logra alcanzarlo; y a su vez nos introduce en el mundo mágico de la leyenda, adentrándose cada vez más en los bosques.
La mujer: Simboliza la tentación, con su hermosura y sus ojos verdes atraen a Fernando. El personaje es atraído porque todo romántico es atraído por la belleza, su necesidad de amar y buscar a su amada. La mujer de los ojos verdes lo atrae por el misterio y lo indescriptible, lo desconocido, algo que no puede explicarse con la razón.
El agua: La fascinación por el agua es algo inherente al hombre. Las fuentes están presentes en leyendas, donde las doncellas ejercen de sacerdotisas guardadoras. Existe la creencia de que el agua no sólo limpiaba el cuerpo sino también el espíritu. En la cultura incaica mencionan el origen de los Incas en el Lago Titicaca a través de la leyenda de Manco Capac y Mama Ocllo. A su vez el reflejo del agua da la idea de espejismo, de lo no real, introduciéndonos a un mundo mágico.
El tema central de la leyenda gira en torno un amor imposible, a la vez desgraciado y que no se puede concretar. En medio de la naturaleza el personaje busca un ideal representado por el ciervo que no puede conseguir. Él cree encontrar la belleza en una mujer de ojos verdes, la cual sería el fin último de su búsqueda. Pero parece no ser una idea acertada ya que insiste en su búsqueda adentrándose cada vez más en un mundo mágico de desconcierto. Huyendo de los lazos que desean atraerlo a la razón y a las costumbres, se topa con una fuente, que muestra la imagen que él desea ver, el resultado del esfuerzo de la búsqueda. Pero el agua es el fiel reflejo de su alma, su yo interior, su humanidad. Se siente incomprendido, la mujer que había soñado no existe y decepcionado por la incomprensión se rebela, y huye en medio de la noche, angustiado en su huida definitiva hacia el suicidio. Con ansia de liberarse lo que lo ata a la razón y a la sociedad en la que vive, encuentra en la muerte su libertad, su “yo” ideal, la belleza infinita. Un amor imposible, que para la razón es desgraciado y no se puede concretar, pero para el personaje romántico es real y que puede alcanzarlo.

Estoy escribiendo esta carta al pueblo de América como un continente para resaltar los efectos de esta guerra. Delincuencia y la violencia se han convertido en una pesadilla desde que comenzó la guerra. La seguridad pública es ahora la cuestión más importante a los Gobiernos y los ciudadanos deberían estar buscando en espuma de ir a la guerra. Sólo en agosto de este año (1804), la violencia fue la causa principal de muerte en esta zona de América Latina y debido a esta violencia la región ha perdido tanta inversión. Esto ha llevado a la tasa de homicidio de ir en aumento en América Latina y convertirse en el más alto entre otras regiones. Desde el comienzo de esta guerra, las tasas de homicidio han subido un 50 por ciento (Harvey, 2004). Las principales víctimas de esta guerra son los hombres jóvenes y los niños que están muriendo en los campos de la guerra y los niños que siempre están solos en casa.
Esta guerra ha destruido muchos de nuestros campos en los que tenemos la comida para alimentar a esta querida región. Dicen que, cuando nos combaten sus hijos recibirán independiente y comenzar a desarrollar la región por su cuenta, pero eso no es cierto, esta región no puede desarrollarse sin la ayuda de nosotros los españoles. Sin duda, cuando salimos de este país de la región de América Latina todavía tiene un largo camino por recorrer ya que somos la columna vertebral de la región. Más de 500.000 personas han muerto a causa de esta guerra y sólo unos pocos meses desde que se inició. Esto significa que las personas más productivas están muriendo a causa de esta guerra sucia, que crees que va a desarrollar la región en el futuro.
Esta guerra ha impedido el movimiento de nuestro pueblo y ha causado pérdidas en nuestros productos ya que no podemos llevarlos a los mercados. Nuestros clientes no pueden viajar a esta región debido a esto que evaluar no tiene ninguna importancia. Es en profundo dolor que estoy escribiendo esta carta a la gente de esta región para detener la guerra, ya que incluso ha afectado a mi familia psicológicamente y ha causado traumas a mi esposa e hijos que ni siquiera puede ir a la escuela o incluso jugar fuera de su casa.
Si esta guerra se intensifica, América Latina finalmente se subdivide, por lo tanto, cada vez más pequeños, tanto en población y la economía. La subdivisión puede estar basada en varios factores que son la política, la geografía y la cultura. Esta subdivisión puede conducir a la desigualdad entre las subregiones y conducir a otra guerra (Harvey, 2004). En lugar de tantear el terreno es de la esencia para parar esta guerra y que siguen viviendo como vivíamos.
Para poner fin a esta guerra, es importante buscar un mediador que desempeñan el papel de conciliador inusual, por lo tanto ayudan en la redacción de una resolución que conciliar ambas partes. Este intento es muy importante porque reducirá al mínimo los daños que hemos encontrado durante esta guerra. Me he quedado en esta región desde 1760 y nunca he visto una situación semejante, por lo tanto mi llamamiento a todos mis hermanos y hermanas que están en esta guerra para que depusieran las herramientas lucha y abrazar la paz para el mejoramiento de esta región.

La boda. Para hacerlo más atractivo y pleno a mi propia sanidad, me referiré a ello como “El sueño de mi vida”, por que francamente lo fue. Pero primero, deseo explicar qué significa cuando hablo de “Boda”. Es un término bastante poco común en el dominio público, y una comodidad escasa en la sociedad moderna. Así que, cualquiera puede tener una razón para declarar que él o ella no sabe nada que tenga que ver con “La Boda”, o precisamente, qué significa. Según Howard Vicky, “Boda” simplemente significa “una ceremonia en la cual dos personas se unen en matrimonio” (Howard, 2006, 34,American Weddings and the Business of Tradition). Sin embargo, cuando se trata de “ceremonias de boda”, podría haber más de lo que se ve a simple vista. Puede que tengamos que hablar de cosas como la cultura del matrimonio, variedades de bodas, etc. Desafortunadamente, no mencionaré estas facetas aquí, ya que están fuera del alcance de mi objetivo. Esta es una autobiografía en la cual opto por anotar unas cuantas cosas que tienen que ver con los momentos más memorables de mi vida. Tiene todo que ver con mi boda. Cómo le conocí, los preparativos, el gran día y cómo emprendí después mi vida. Espero que tú también lo disfrutes.
EL encuentro
El mundo en el que vivimos está lleno de decepciones y sueños rotos. Poca gente vive para ser testigo de cómo sus sueños se convierten en realidad. Estoy contenta de estar entre unos pocos testigos de unos sueños hechos realidad. Yo no era una soñadora como José en la Biblia, y ¡tampoco estaba poseída por los sueños! Sólo tenía algunos sueños importantes como cualquier otra mujer completa. Soñamos con vivir una vida decente, una vida llena de júbilos y sonrisas. Más importante aún, soñamos con conocer al compañero perfecto.
Bien, fue durante unos de esos días de escuela, cuando aún era muy joven, activa y comprometida con tener éxito en la vida. Iba a la escuela en el “Educational Opportunity Center” , el acrónimo es SUNY, situado en Manhattan, Nueva York. Esto era en 1995. No sabía que los dos íbamos a las clases nocturnas de Inglés, donde intentábamos estableces el Inglés como segundo idioma
La Amistad Aflora
Pasó el tiempo y llegó un cálido invierno de nuevo. Durante esta estación, a menudo tenía un problema de sangrado de nariz, más común cuando las temperaturas son altas y cuando hacía calor. Así que un día, mi nariz empezó a sangrar. Dos gotas de sangre en mi libreta y Michael, sentado a mi lado se volvió sorprendentemente trastornado . Lo has adivinado, Michael era su nombre, un nombre al que me acostumbré tanto. Era un hombre tan gentil, me ofreció su pañuelo blanco para limpiar las manchas.
Cuando el Sr. Jones, nuestro profesor de Inglés, se dio cuenta de lo que me estaba pasando, pidió que un voluntario me acompañara a mi apartamente. Michael estaba allí una vez más para ayudarme. No dudó en acompañarme a casa. Me acompañó al piso de arriba, y me dejó para que descansara. Por suerte, cuando llegamos allí me había dejado de sangrar la nariz.
Veinte minutos después de que Michael se fuera, sonó el teléfono. Era él, la razon, enterarse de cómo me encontraba. Me sentí verdaderamente enamorada, and at leasy al menos, me sentía segura de que había alguien a quien le importaba bastante. Al cabo de un par de días, volví a las clases nocturnas. Le tuve cerca mío, al menos varios días a la semana. Ciertamente, nos habíamos convertido en buenos amigos.
El Primer Beso
Unos días después, nuestra clase fue a una excursión a la estación de trenes. Éramos muchos, así que los estudiantes caminaban en grupos. Esto era por que las calles de Harlem se habías tornado inseguras en aquel momento, y tal vez, no era seguro caminar sólo por las calles. A diferencia de mí, la mayoría de mis compañeros de clase optaron por el tren Número 2 A y D, y yo parecía que iba a ir sola en el tren Número 6; pero lo estaba? No, no iba a estar sola. Michael de nuevo me acompañó; estaba con Tuipate, uno de mis buenos amigos. Tuipate, in embargo, nos dejó después de algunas millas, y Michael y yo nos unimos al tren Número 6.
